Spice Racks for the Kitchen

Some things in the kitchen make your guests and neighbors go ‘wow’. Other things make your family go ‘wow’. These aren’t always the same thing. When it comes to impressing others, things like new cabinets, counters and appliances are the main attractions, so to speak. However, with the family, they care more about the day to day activities after a kitchen renovation project ‘newness’ wears off. More specifically, they care about what happens in the kitchen that leads directly to better food for them. Let’s face it, we care about ourselves. If you want to impress these folks, keep your spice rack filled with their favorites so that the meals never get boring.

There are all sorts of kitchen spice racks that you can use in your kitchen that will complement the new look or function you’ve imparted there. So, you’re probably not going to get written up in some fine home magazine for ‘best kitchen spice rack’ or something whimsical like that. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get one that is sleek and usable. Newer kitchens also have design features that make built-in spice racks a possibility.

If you like to cook, then you’ll appreciate the different styles available. For starters, there are wooden spice racks that can work perfectly in this situation. They can be mounted on the inside of a cabinet door, inside a drawer or be displayed proudly on those new granite countertops. There are also metal racks that can hold your spices within reach and proximity to your cooking areas. The metal ones are good because they are usually a bit less visually cluttering and are easy to wipe clean. There are no real clear winners when it comes to metal or wood, your kitchen decor will really dictate the style that fits best in your space.
